Another Tank Top (Otra camiseta sin mangas)

I really like the April tank top I made using the Sonia Estep Designs. I knew I wanted to make another one. My first fit but I thought I wanted to try it in the next size up and a tiny bit longer.

Me encanta la camiseta  abril que hice con  Sonia Estep Designs. Sabía que quería hacer otra. Era la primera que me quedaba, pero quería probarla en una talla más grande y un poquito más largo.

I love this pattern for a multitude of reasons (easy, quick, little fabric use). It uses very little fabric making it a great scrap project. This time I used an orange/black rib knit from Olga’s Closet. I made a dress from this fabric about 2 years ago. I had some scraps left and when I was shopping in my personal fabric store I found them. My immediate thought is I need another April. I had just enough!

Me encanta este patrón por muchas razones (fácil, rápido y usa poca tela). Usa muy poca tela, lo que lo convierte en un proyecto genial con retazos. Esta vez usé un punto acanalado naranja/negro de Olga's Closet. Hice un vestido con esta tela hace unos dos años. Me quedaban algunos retazos y los encontré cuando estaba comprando en mi tienda de telas. Lo primero que pensé fue que necesitaba otro abril. ¡Tenía justo lo suficiente!

I did change the method for attaching my bindings. The pattern has you fold in half and then bring sides in to meet in the middle. This will result in a smaller width binding. Basically I am too lazy to do the extra folding. I just fold in the binding in half, attach with my serger and call it good enough.

Cambié el método para unir las encuadernaciones. El patrón indica que se dobla por la mitad y luego se juntan los lados. Esto da como resultado una encuadernación más pequeña. Básicamente, me da pereza hacer el doblez adicional. Simplemente doblo la encuadernación por la mitad, la sujeto con mi remalladora y listo.

For those following along on their Bingo card for the quilt finish. It is actually getting a hand sewn binding. Currently it is half completed.

There was a small amount of binding drama (of course, after all it is one of my projects). I was trying to decide on the binding color. I have more of the backing fabric but did not want to use it for binding - too busy. Next idea was plain red, but it is hard to match red shades. I decided to use plain black. I know I have some of this fabric in my collection. Do you think I could actually find it (insert a laughing emoji right here)? Instead I found a gold fabric that I have used as a backing on another quilt. I cut out 2 1/2” strips, got out the iron and before I knew it I had some binding.

Hubo un pequeño problema con el ribete (claro, al fin y al cabo, es uno de mis proyectos). Estaba intentando decidir el color del ribete. Tengo más tela de base, pero no quería usarla para el ribete; es demasiado recargado. La siguiente idea fue usar rojo liso, pero es difícil combinar tonos rojos. Decidí usar negro liso. Sé que tengo algo de esta tela en mi colección. ¿Crees que podría encontrarla (inserta un emoji de risa aquí)? En cambio, encontré una tela dorada que he usado como base en otra colcha. Recorté tiras de 6,35 cm, saqué la plancha y, sin darme cuenta, ya tenía el ribete.

I will say my mitered corners could use some professional help, but they work. I actually do not mind hand sewing quilt binding. Go figure, do not like actually making the quilt but am fine with the binding section - weird!

Diría que mis esquinas ingleteadas necesitan ayuda profesional, pero funcionan. La verdad es que no me importa coser a mano el ribete de la colcha. Imagínate, no me gusta hacer la colcha, pero me gusta el ribete. ¡Loca!
