FO Friday

My first finished object of 2025. I sewed up the last of the shoulder seams on the Christmas At Sea Seafarer’s Vest the other night. I am really happen with the yarn colors and think the stripes makes it look very snazzy.

The yarn is ancient. The label states it was bought at Montgomery Wards (an old department store), which I believe closed their last US store in about 2000. Frankly I did not even know that they sold yarn at the store. A very nice lady at Church knows I knit and she gifted me an entire tub of acrylic yarn for my charity crafting. A friend had bought it all for her at various charity shops. She does not usually knit with acrylic yarn and asked if I could use it for the charity knitting.

When charity (or baby) knitting I usually select easy to care acrylic yarns. I am not sure of the washing facilities for the people who receive the hand knitted items. Also what mother of a new baby has time to hand wash knits.

I thought I would be playing yarn chicken, but ended up with 13 grams left over. I added the white stripes to make the yarn go a little farther. I hope this finds its way to a mariner who will appreciate the hand knit item.
